Since 1999 I have been working in Business Intelligence. I still feel like the work is just getting started, as the business value of BI is not commonly understood or agreed. I decided to dedicate my next adventure to helping all of us do more with BI & Analytics because we would have a better sense of what it was worth.

The Mission

Help define the business value of business intelligence. Discover and document examples to test and refine the definition. Discuss the findings to challenge and improve them. Share everything from the earliest stages.

The organization

You and I. To be sure there is just one of me, but there are many millions of you. Now I've often been told I'm a connector, introducing people with stories to one another. Now I'm going to do that with the goal of reaching a common understanding of the business value of data and analytics. From what I can tell having talked to many thousands of you over the years, there's a huge thirst to learn more about the value generated by spending much of our lives working in data and analytics.

The method

Keeping it simple to begin with. I'll study, and write, and ask questions, and respond to questions. There'll be quarterly reports, and interim updates.

The unvalued BI & Analytics project will not live for long
